A brush fire broke out Wednesday in Chino Hills, burning more than 100 acres on a hillside just off the 71 Freeway.

Fire crews with Cal Fire responded to a Chino Hills neighborhood after a brush fire was reported Wednesday afternoon.

Caltrans owns the 71 Freeway, but only has jurisdiction over part of it. The rest is controlled by the U.S. division of a Madrid-based construction company, Obrascón Huarte Lain, S.A. or OHLA.

POMONA, Calif. (KABC) -- One week after potholes forced the closure of the 71 Freeway in Pomona, overnight Tuesday the freeway was again shut down in both directions for the same reason.

The 71 Freeway has been hampered by closures in Pomona for the past few months. The closure at Rio Rancho Road will continue on Monday, Aug. 19, according to Caltrans.

The closure will affect southbound lanes of the 71 Freeway at Butterfield Ranch Road/Euclid Avenue in Chino Hills from Friday, Aug. 16 at 10 p.m. through Monday, Aug. 19 at 5 a.m.
