The British Competition and Markets Authority recently confirmed how it’s got sufficient data to launch a new probe into Google’s latest deal with Anthropic. The competition watchdog will now be scrutinizing the AI partnership that took many by surprise.

Google’s partnership with AI firm Anthropic is at risk of being derailed in the UK after the competition watchdog called for further investigation of the pact’s potential impact.

The investigation will look into whether the partnership between Google owner Alphabet and the AI startup could lessen competition.

Launch of review by UK regulator comes less than a month after it gave the green light to the AI firm’s deal with Amazon.
