HONG KONG (AP) — An Air India flight returned to Hong Kong on Monday shortly after takeoff due to a midair technical issue, days after another of the airline’s flights crashed and killed at least 270 people.

Air India and Boeing are in the midst of significant turnarounds, but knowing the cause of the crash of Flight 171 will take a lengthy investigation.

Air India flight AI171, a Boeing 787-8 carrying 242 people, crashed after taking off from Ahmedabad on its way to London.

Officials say at least 270 bodies have been recovered, while the lone surviving passenger is still under observation for some of his injuries.

Boeing was generating optimism. Then on Thursday a 787 crashed, raising the specter of fresh problems for Boeing and altering the message it planned to send.

The event, which runs from June 16 to June 20, is the industry's largest trade show, where many aircraft orders are typically placed by airlines.
