US President Donald Trump has said he is considering imposing a 10% tariff on imports of Chinese-made goods as soon as 1 February. Trump said discussions with his administration were "based on the fact that they're sending fentanyl to Mexico and Canada".

Chinese goods are currently subject to a 100% tariff on electric vehicles and 25% tariff on steel and aluminum products. But several items have been exempt from tariffs. One of the biggest exemptions: consumer electronics. But if Trump proceeds with a 10% blanket tariff on Chinese goods that would no longer be the case.

Donald Trump has announced that his administration will impose a 25% tariff on goods imported from Canada and Mexico beginning February 1. The president, who was sworn in on Monday in Washington, also stated his intention to implement a 20% tariff on goods from all other countries.
