The co-founder of hardware wallet manufacturer, Ledger, recently endured a harrowing ordeal: David Balland and his wife were abducted from their home in Vierzon by a violent criminal gang - highlighting the extreme risks that can come with the cryptocurrency world.

David Balland and his wife were rescued in a police operation involving elite units, Paris Prosecutor Laure Beccuau said.

Amid the increasing dangers faced by industry's key figures, Ledger co-founder was abducted from in central France earlier this week.

David Balland and his wife, Amandine, were abducted from their home in Vierzon. They both survived the ordeal, but Balland is missing part of his finger.

David Balland, a founder of Ledger, a prominent cryptocurrency company, and his wife were freed after a 48-hour police search. Ten people have been arrested.
