American voices took the stage on day two of the COP30 climate conference, but none represented the federal government. California Governor Gavin Newsom, a Democrat, spoke at the UN climate summit in the Brazilian Amazon after the Trump administration opted not to send a delegation.
Speaking at the COP30 climate summit in Brazil, California Governor Gavin Newsom said his state, the world’s fourth-largest economy, would continue to prioritize green technology.
Newsom spoke from São Paolo to a room of business executives and investors. He traveled to Belém for the remainder of the week, where global leaders will work to turn ideas into actionable plans around clean energy transition, artificial intelligence and global trade wars, all issues expected to take center stage.
However, more and more psychologists have started to agree with Newsom's dementia diagnosis. Dr. John Garner, who co-hosts the Shrinking Trump podcast, said Trump's confusion, bizarre and incoherent rambling, and memory lapses are signs of "immense cognitive decline."
The Trump administration sent nobody to the U.N. global climate summit, leaving California Governor Gavin Newsom to ask, "What the hell is going on here?"
