Ireland is enduring a severe cold snap with temperatures as low as -8C, accompanied by widespread frost, ice and snow. However, a dramatic shift is expected within days, with temperatures set to swing by 18C.

Ireland is in the midst of a worsening cold snap, with daytime temperatures barely above freezing and nighttime lows plunging to -8C. Met Eireann has issued a new five-day weather warning and given a date for when temperatures begin to rise.

Met Éireann have issued a fresh Status Yellow Snow-Ice warning for the entire country until midday tomorrow, with hazardous travelling conditions and poor visibility expected in some areas.
