Google will sign the EU’s AI code of practice, backing Brussels at a time when U.S. officials and tech companies are trying to derail the bloc’s expanding digital rules.

Google announced on Wednesday its plans to sign onto the European Union's "Code of Practice" for artificial intelligence, a set of guidelines on how businesses can follow the rules of the E.U.'s new AI Act.

Meta Platforms Inc. said it won’t sign the code of practice for Europe’s new set of laws governing artificial intelligence, calling the guidelines to help companies follow the AI Act overreach.
