According to a league source, Buffalo is sending JJ Peterka to Utah for right-handed defenseman Michael Kesselring and forward Josh Doan. As part of the deal, Peterka has agreed to a contract extension with the Mammoth.

The Sabres traded forward J.J. Peterka to the Mammoth early Thursday morning in exchange for defenseman Michael Kesselring and forward Josh Doan, the teams announced. As part of the transaction, Peterka – who was set to become a restricted free agent – signed a five-year extension with Utah with an average annual value of $7.7 million.

The Buffalo Sabres’ long-anticipated offseason retooling began late Wednesday night with the team agreeing to trade forward JJ Peterka to the Utah Mammoth for forward Josh Doan and defenseman Michael Kesselring.
