Mississippi passed the law in 2024 after a 16-year-old was victimized by a sextortion scheme and took his own life.

Justices declined to block the Mississippi law, which blocks young people from accessing most major social media platforms and sites without parental consent.

The Supreme Court Thursday refused to block a law requiring social media users to verify their ages before using popular sites such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
