Many of New York's striking prison guards will return to their jobs Saturday after the state told them to take a deal or face termination.

New York Gov. Kathy Hochul has announced an agreement to end a wildcat strike that has roiled the state’s prison system for more than a week.

The officers union did not authorize the strike, and it was unclear how it would enforce the agreement. The stoppages have affected all but one of the state’s 42 prisons.
