Officials have expressed caution around the nationwide “No Kings” protests after two Minnesota state lawmakers and their spouses were shot early Saturday. One lawmaker and her husband died while the other two survived with severe injuries.

The largely peaceful protests during the "No Kings Day" demonstration in downtown Los Angeles took an intense turn in the afternoon. Police ordered the crowd to disperse at about 4:15 p.m. PDT near Alameda Street and Temple Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department's Central Division.

The suspect in the assassination of a Democrat lawmaker in Minnesota Saturday morning had a stack of flyers reading 'No Kings' in their vehicle, Minnesota State Patrol (MSP) said on X, formerly Twitter.

Most of the "No Kings" protests across the country were peaceful, however, one person has died from a shooting in Salt Lake City.
