Texas has reported over 700 measles cases since January, according to the latest numbers from the state’s health department, representing the bulk of measles cases that have been reported in the U.S.

Last week, the Texas Department of State Health Services reported eight new cases on Tuesday and one new case on Friday. On Tuesday, May 20, DSHS is reporting four additional cases, bringing the total number of cases during the outbreak to 722.

The Texas measles outbreak increased by four cases on Tuesday, including the first in the San Antonio area, according to health officials. The Texas Department of State Health Services has now reported 722 cases connected to the outbreak that is centered in the South Plains region.
