A storm system brewing off the east coast of Mexico now has a 70% chance of forming into a tropical cyclone in the next 48 hours, the National Hurricane Center said on June 28, an increase from previous forecasts.

The National Hurricane Center will initiate advisories on Tropical Depression Two in the Gulf waters off Mexico on Saturday evening. The second tracked system of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season will get its first advisory at 5 p.m.

The storm could become Tropical Storm Barry within the next 24 hours, before it’s forecasted to hit the Mexican coastline Monday.
