The Philadelphia 76ers provide an encouraging update on rookie VJ Edgecombe ahead of their matchup with the Washington Wizards.
Washington only scored 58 points without Tre Johnson and Alex Sarr. Kyshawn George and Bub Carrington were also held out of the contest. AJ Johnson impressed from the Wizards lineup, though, with a game high 20 points.
Shooting 4-for-14 from the floor and inspiring confidence in the same game is quite a challenge. VJ Edgecombe pulled it off on Tuesday in Las Vegas.
During a Las Vegas podcast appearance, 76ers HC Nick Nurse raved about how VJ Edgecombe could translate his explosive game to the NBA level.
He's expected to be part of what should be a talented backcourt, with Tyrese Maxey, Jared McCain and Quentin Grimes—assuming he eventually re-signs with the team—also expected to have major roles in the 2025-26 campaign. Veterans Kyle Lowry and Eric Gordon could see minutes as well.
