The multi-year saga surrounding the future of St. Louis Cardinals broadcasts on FanDuel Sports Network was resolved Monday, as the team announced it would leave the beleaguered Main Street Sports group and transfer control of its broadcasts to Major League Baseball’s production studio.
The St. Louis Cardinals became the eighth Major League Baseball team to shift to MLB-produced broadcasts for 2026, marking another step in the league’s growing takeover of local television rights as regional sports networks continue to collapse.
The 13 teams carried on Main Street’s channels in the NBA are the Atlanta Hawks, Charlotte Hornets, Cleveland Cavaliers, Detroit Pistons, Indiana Pacers, Los Angeles Clippers, Miami Heat, Memphis Grizzlies, Milwaukee Bucks, Minnesota Timberwolves, Oklahoma City Thunder, Orlando Magic and San Antonio Spurs.
The 10-time All-Star catcher will return to the St. Louis organization.
According to sports business reporter John Ourand, the St. Louis Cardinals have informed Major League Baseball that they plan on utilizing MLB as their broadcast partner moving forward. He put the news out on social media as the Cardinals have officially ended their relationship with Main Street Sports.
