The Sacramento Kings completed one of the biggest moves in franchise history on Sunday, trading star guard De'Aaron Fox to the San Antonio Spurs. In return, the Kings got All-Star guard Zach LaVine from the Chicago Bulls, but the two stars on new teams had very different debuts.

The Sacramento Kings, all things considered, did well for themselves despite having to navigate De’Aaron Fox’s trade request. They were able to acquire a fringe All-Star talent (Zach LaVine) in exchange for him as well as a few first-round draft picks,

Fox played a key role in bringing his childhood friend and former Kentucky teammate to Sacramento when Monk signed a free-agent deal with the Kings in the summer of 2022. Now, Fox is gone and Monk is taking over as the team’s starting point guard.
