I know i can send the command by using IE6 to connect to the remote machine but when i use the vnc viewer i cant seem to find the alt-ctrl-del option . any ideas ?

I guess reading the entire post before replying is a good thing. Yes, my instructions are for the VNC server built into OS X, but herko appears to have pointed you in the correct direction.
