Hurricane Helene was a life-changing storm, causing devastation across the Southeast last September, and communities are still recovering six months later. The Category 4 hit the Florida Peninsula, bringing a record storm surge to Tampa Bay and winds up to 140 mph.

Southeastern states from Florida to Tennessee are still cleaning up the devastation from Hurricane Helene, six months after the storm made landfall in Florida.

The National Hurricane Center measured more than 13 feet of storm surge in areas like Keaton Beach and Steinhatchee, destroying 80% of the buildings there.
