Another thriller in the series, and for the second time New Zealand held their nerve. After posting 177 for nine, the hosts had West Indies reeling at 88/8 in 12.3 overs, seemingly cruising to victory.
West Indies captain Shai Hope said that he would have elected to bowl, so he wasn't fussed about the toss. He confirmed three changes to the playing XI, with Roston Chase, Jayden Seales and Brandon King all ruled out "taking a bit of rest". In came Amir Jangoo, Sherfane Rutherford and Shamar Springer.
