The Marine Mammal Stranding Center in Brigantine, New Jersey, welcomed a big new patient last week. A 154-pound harp seal was hauled out of Brant Beach in Long Beach Island on March 8.

Route 35 runs along the northern barrier of the island in Ocean County between the ocean and Barnegat Bay. Police said the seal was found right at the split between Brick and Mantoloking.
