The LEGO Group is revving up the excitement for MAR10 Day with the release of the LEGO Super Mario: Mario Kart – Mario & Standard Kart set. This build-and-display set brings the thrilling world of Mario Kart to life in brick form.

ORIGINAL 11.57am: Today, 10th March (or Mar10) is Mario Day, and ahead of an official announcement an 18+ Lego Mario Kart set has leaked online. The set - which will presumably be revealed officially later - popped up on the officially certified Australian Lego Store website, and is reported to be launching on 15th May for $249.99 AUD.

Lego has launched an adult Mario Kart set in the form of the Mario & Standard Kart build. Comprising 1,972 pieces, it costs £149.99 / $169.99 / €169.99 and is available to pre-order now. Although Lego has released many a Mario set over the last few years, few have piqued my interest as much as the one that's just been launched.

Nintendo just revealed a nearly 2,000 piece Mario Kart Lego set that brings Mario and his iconic kart right into your living room.

Despite that beefy price and naughty age rating, the set looks really rather strong. It's one of the more detailed takes on both Mario and his kart that we have seen from an official LEGO build so far, and the posable limbs and stand seem to make for a pretty dynamic-looking display piece.
