The Youngstown State football team dropped a close game 38-30 to top-ranked North Dakota State at the Fargodome Saturday.

The Penguins, who entered a +26.5 point underdog according to ESPN, racked up 371 total yards of offense while scoring the most points against the top team in the FCS all season.

Defensively, the Coyotes caused three Fighting Hawks turnovers, including interceptions from Matt Walsh and R.J. Stewart in the first half. Coming into the matchup, North Dakota’s offense was averaging 40 points per game, with quarterback Jerry Kaminski tossing 22 touchdowns to just two interceptions, though that latter total doubled Saturday.

Kickoff: 3 pm CT (ESPN+) Tarleton State has delivered on the lofty preseason expectations that surrounded this team, sitting at 9-0, including an FBS win over Army. The Texans are in position to make a run at the No. 2 seed, which would give them home-field advantage in the postseason.

FARGO — A wet and chilly Halloween night made for ideal football weather for Fargo Davies' ground-and-pound offense. The Eagles rushed their way straight into the North Dakota Division 3A state semifinals with 349 ground yards in a 34-6 quarterfinal home win over Mandan on Friday.

L.J. Phillips Jr. rushed for 106 yards and added a touchdown, and Dejuan Lewis returned a fumble for a touchdown to lead South Dakota to a 26-21 victory over North Dakota on Saturday.
