There are a few other previously-announced updates that are now coming to Apple Pay as well, including the ability to use the service on third-party desktop browsers like Chrome. Apple is also rolling out its “Tap to Provision” feature that lets you add new cards by tapping them on the back of your iPhone.

Starting in iOS 18, Apple supports installment loans and payments. That means consumers can purchase items using short-term credit from Affirm and Klarna (US) and Monzo Flex and Klarna (UK) when they check out with Apple Pay online and in the app.

Plenty more card partners have arrived in the years since the original launch, and more retailers have been adopting the standard. While new ways to pay, including rewards, were teased at WWDC 2024, we're now seeing these arrive with iOS 18 and even more partners being announced. All in all, it's freshening the ways you can pay with Apple Pay.

Alright, Klarna is the latest addition to Apple Pay's Buy-Now-Pay-Later (BNPL) portfolio. If you want to take out a 0% interest loan to buy a new pair of shoes, or whatever, just select Klarna or one of the other BNPL services that are built into Apple Pay's checkout screen. Bleh.

Apple Pay has started to offer Klarna installment plans for online purchases, while a future update will bring PayPal balances to the Apple Wallet.
