The Celtics said the 6-time All-Star underwent successful surgery to repair a ruptured right Achilles tendon on Tuesday. No timetable is available for his return, but he is expected to make a full recovery.
The Celtics were 4-0 against the New York Knicks in the regular season and were the team to beat going into the NBA Playoffs, but they fell apart against them in the postseason.
The 27-year-old Tatum met with his teammates on Thursday at the team hotel for the first time since his Achilles tear. Payton Pritchard, who won the Sixth Man of the Year Award this season, said it was great to see his "brother."
