“Doom: The Dark Ages” is a prequel to the first two games and lets players discover the events leading up to the original reboot. It finds the Doom Slayer as a tool of the Maykrs as he’s deployed to help the Sentinels in their battle against the minions of hell.

The upgrade system in Doom: The Dark Ages splits between attribute upgrades and equipment upgrades. For the former, you need to acquire Demonic Essence and they raise your Ammo capacity, Health, and Armor. On the other hand, the latter involves visiting Sentinel Shrines and spending resources to make your favorite pieces of equipment stronger.
