President Donald Trump has announced plans to use Guantanamo Bay, the U.S. naval base in Cuba, as a detention site for tens of thousands of immigrants described as "high-priority criminal aliens unlawfully present in the United States.

In a pre-recorded video uploaded to social media, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth had little more to add beyond noting that the Pentagon was "leaning forward on supporting the president's directive."
