An Atlas V rocket roared off Florida's Cape Canaveral Space Force Station at 6:54 a.m. ET Monday, carrying 27 Amazon Kuiper satellites to low-Earth orbit. The flight, dubbed Kuiper 2, doubles Amazon's constellation to 54 operational broadband satellites.

A second batch of satellites has been sent into low Earth orbit for Amazon’s Project Kuiper broadband network, marking another significant step toward competing with SpaceX’s global Starlink network.

Amazon launched its second batch of Kuiper internet satellites using the Atlas V rocket by United Launch Alliance (ULA). The rocket lifted from Space Launch Complex 41 at the Kennedy Space Center in Cape Canaveral, Florida. The cloud service parent company is ramping up plans for a massive constellation that competes with Elon Musk’s Starlink.
