Tesla has officially scrapped plans for the Cybertruck's Range Extender battery, designed to boost its real-world driving range. The optional add-on, meant to fit in the vehicle's bed, was canceled just before its scheduled release,

Tesla originally stated that the range extender would bump the dual motor Cybertruck's range up from 325 to 470 miles, but was later revised to 445 miles. Elon Musk's EV company also originally slated the range extender release for early 2025, but moved it to mid-2025. Now it appears there will be no release at all.

Tesla has officially scrapped the range extender accessory it was making for Cybertrucks. In emails seen by Electrek, Tesla confirmed to Cybertruck owners that it’s “no longer planning to sell” the $16,000 battery pack, and that it would be issuing full refunds for the $2,000 deposit put down by customers.
