North Texans brace for “measurable” snow starting Wednesday night as an Arctic air mass brings below-freezing temperatures and a wintery mix of precipitation.

Ahead of the expected snowfall later in the week, North Texans woke up to freezing temperatures in the 20s on Monday, Jan. 6.

An Arctic air mass that has gripped much of the northern half of the U.S. is expected to arrive overnight Monday in North Texas, bringing with it below-freezing temperatures, bitterly cold weather and the chance later in the week for the possibility of a wintry mix of precipitation,

Earlier this week, the National Weather Service’s Climate Prediction Center released its 8-14 day weather outlook that is valid from Jan. 7-13, 2025. The outlook showed that much of the country would face subfreezing temperatures, with some states, including Texas, potentially receiving snow.
