The Australian glided past pole-sitter and race leader Max Verstappen at the start of lap 14 with the Dutch driver having struggled to hold him off for some time, but it was Piastri's papaya pal Norris who ended the GP feeling aggrieved by an incident involving the defending world champion.

The win marks Piastri's fourth of the season after he picked up wins at the Heineken Chinese Grand Prix in March and the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix and SRC Saudi Arabian Grand Prix in April. The 24-year-old Australian has now doubled his win total from a year ago.

Max Verstappen celebrated the birth of his first child with a pole-winning run at the Miami Grand Prix. The four-time defending Formula 1 champion edged Lando Norris of McLaren by .065 seconds to take the top starting spot for Sunday's race.
