Percentages aren't always easy to calculate, but one of the best tools in Excel's toolbox is calculating percentages for you. Here's how to do it.
If you need to find the percentage change in Excel, especially across a range of cells, then this post offers step by step guidance.
Open Microsoft Excel. Enter the formula for calculating a percentage. As an example, to calculate the percentage for $10 out of $50, enter the formula "=10/50" without quotes.
Click an empty cell. Type "=PRODUCT (50%)." Replace "50%" with the percentage by which you want to multiply your column. Press "Enter" to finish entering the percentage in the cell.
Calculating CAGR or Compound Annual Growth Rate in Microsoft Excel is super easy. You will have to use the RRI function to get the job done.
Now I just hit enter, and Excel calculates that my internal rate of return on my Microsoft stock was 0.2373. This result is actually a percentage, an IRR of 23.73%.
It makes sense to calculate their percentage overages next. Using the same math, the materials cost was 5.4% over budget, and the equipment rental was 4.7% over budget.
