Japan's National Diet Library has officially excluded Nintendo Switch 2 Game-Key Cards from preservation in their collection.

When Nintendo pulled back the curtain on Switch 2, it confirmed that several new Switch 2 game cards won’t always carry an actual game, but instead contain a key for a game download.

Nintendo confirmed after the Switch 2 Direct that Game-Key Cards will contain a download "key" and don't feature the full game data like other physical editions.
