Jaylen Brown scores a season-high 42 points, leading the Boston Celtics to a 123-117 victory over the New York Knicks in a rematch of last season's Eastern Conference semifinal.

The Celtics dispatched yet another Eastern Conference contender Tuesday night, defeating New York 123-117 behind 42 points from Jaylen Brown.

The Georgia native leaned on his younger forwards to help secure the win, and that trust paid off in a major way.

The Celtics' healthy All-Star scored 18 points in the second quarter and the team critical contributions from Hugo González and Jordan Walsh.

Brown scored 42 but recognized the contributions from his younger, less experienced teammates were key to Boston's win over New York.

The Celtics maintained that advantage with another stellar offensive showing in the third quarter, outscoring the Knicks 36-24. While the Celtics’ lead ballooned to 18 points, the Knicks cut it down to a three-point game in the fourth quarter. New York was unable to grab the lead as Boston kept them at arm’s length.

Blown leads were the story for the Celtics in last year's postseason exit at the hands of the Knicks, but they held on to win over New York Tuesday.
