The incident happened early Sunday morning when the Iowa City Fire Department was leaving a senior living facility after responding to a medical call.

According to a state patrol crash report, the firetruck was leaving a medical call at Legacy Senior Living located on 1020 S. Scott Blvd. in Iowa City when it hit 99-year-old Evelyn Bothmer. The incident happened just after 7 a.m. on Sunday morning. State patrol said Bothmer was declared dead on the scene.

Troopers identified the woman as Evelyn Bothmer.
