WASHINGTON (AP) — The Trump administration will celebrate Black History Month at the White House on Thursday, preserving a tradition at the same time that President Donald Trump’s executive order ending the federal government’s diversity, equity and inclusion programs has disrupted its observance elsewhere.

This year marks 20 years of LGBTQ+ History Month and centres around the theme of Activism and Social Change, highlighting the pivotal role advocacy has played in shaping more inclusive spaces within the aerospace industry.

The city of Kingston is celebrating Black History and Futures Month through a wide range of events at Queen's University. City Hall and Springer Market Square will be lit in green, black and red for the entire month.

The ceremony comes as the Trump administration has pushed to eradicate diversity programs from the government, which some agencies have interpreted to end the observance of identity-based months.
