Notre Dame is on the brink of potentially securing its greatest bowl victory in over three decades as the Fighting Irish prepare to take on Georgia in the Sugar Bowl on Thursday. Though the Irish have had opportunities for major bowl wins over the years—including a national championship appearance in the 2012 season—their last significant bowl victory came in the 1991 Sugar Bowl over the Florida Gators.

The No. 2 Georgia Bulldogs will wear red jerseys when the Bulldogs play the No. 7 Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Sugar Bowl. The jersey matchup is expected to be the same as when Georgia played Notre Dame in 2019 and the 1981 Sugar Bowl.

With the Fighting Irish being the "away" team at the neutral site in New Orleans, the traditional white uniform and gold pants combination would be most likely. It can be reasonably anticipated that Georgia will wear red, leaving Notre Dame with a good amount of creative freedom if it chooses to stray away from white.
