Pope Francis is resting Thursday after a peaceful night during his third week of hospital treatment for double pneumonia.

Pope Francis has spent 19 full days at Rome's Gemelli hospital, however, it doesn't come close to approaching the record-long stays of St. John Paul II during his quarter-century pontificate.

After experiencing repeated bouts of respiratory insufficiency in recent days, Pope Francis spent the night without further complications, the Vatican said on Wednesday. "Pope Francis rested well overnight and woke up slightly after 8 am this morning,
