The Atlanta Hawks have received a resounding applause for drafting Georgia forward Asa Newell. The first Georgia player to be drafted in the first round since Anthony Edwards in 2020 was selected Wednesday night as Asa Newell got picked up by the Atlanta Hawks with the 23rd overall pick.

The Atlanta Hawks have selected Asa Newell with the No. 23 pick in the 2025 NBA draft. With a smooth lefty jumper and strong mobility, Newell brought shooting touch, fluidity and switchability to the Georgia Bulldogs' frontcourt.

Georgia Bulldogs freshman forward Asa Newell had a strong one-and-done campaign while in college. Now, he's ready to show what he can do as a pro. Newell helped Team USA win a gold medal during the FIBA U-17 Basketball World Cup in 2022.
