Abdul Hydara was shot from behind while talking to an acquaintance in the parking lot of a Buford Highway shopper center. His killer remains unknown.

Police in Atlanta say the suspect is dead after a shooting near Emory University and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention headquarters.

Emory University said it had an active shooter on its Atlanta campus. The school advised people to avoid the area and shelter in place in a post on its website Friday night. It lifted the shelter in place order roughly an hour later but said a police emergency was ongoing.
