Seventy-nine people across seven states have gotten sick with the same outbreak strain of Salmonella that has been linked to the eggs, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

On June 6, 2025, August Egg Company issued a voluntary recall of 1,700,000 dozen brown eggs in collaboration with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The FDA announced that California-based August Egg Company is recalling 1.7 million dozen brown cage-free and brown certified organic eggs due to potential salmonella contamination.
