CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox took action against the fan who verbally abused Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte by banning him from future games at Rate Field, the organization said on Wednesday, June 25. The fan was ejected from the game after directing comments toward Marte about his mother, who died in a car accident in 2017.

A 22 year-old fan has been banned indefinitely from Rate Field after yelling something about Diamondbacks second baseman Ketel Marte's late mother during Tuesday night's game against the White Sox, the team told ESPN on Wednesday morning.

Ketel Marte hit a solo homer in the first inning, Alek Thomas and Geraldo Perdomo each had a seventh-inning RBI single and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the White Sox 4-1 on Tuesday night, Chicago’s sixth consecutive home loss.
