The Edmonton Oilers have retained one of their key trade deadline acquisitions by re-signing Trent Frederic to an eight-year extension, the team announced Friday. The max-term deal is for a $3.85 million cap hit and keeps the 27-year-old forward under team control until the end of the 2033-34 season.

Edmonton Oilers forward Trent Frederic signed an eight-year, $30.8 million contract extension on Friday. The signing comes four days before Frederic was set to hit unrestricted free agency. The Oilers acquired Frederic from the Boston Bruins in a three-team trade on March 4 that also included the New Jersey Devils.
