The International Olympic Committee have responded to news that over a hundred athletes had reportedly returned their medals. Recent reports revealed that several of the world's best athletes were returning their Olympic medals after noticing that they had deteriorated since the Pairs Games.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) told AFP Monday that the "defective medals" from the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris will be replaced with identical models.

As reported by news.com.au, a number of Olympians and Paralympians have returned the “deteriorated” medals, with many pointing out its now faded colour and rough texture. Last year, US skateboarder Nyjah Huston shared on his Instagram story that his bronze medal was looking considerably different than when he first received it.
