A Kentucky high school athlete who was just weeks shy of turning 17 was killed in a vehicular crash last week, authorities and school officials said.

A car crash was reported Monday morning in the Arden-Arcade area of Sacramento County. Emergency medical services were dispatched around 11:14 a.m. to Watt Avenue and Whitney Avenue.
