The Bengals won’t accept any offer on Burrow, of course, just as they didn’t back before the draft when needy teams like Miami had three first-round picks. The Jets’ recent fire sale at the trade deadline to acquire those types of assets won’t move the Bengals, either.
Mike Greenberg, a die-hard Jets fan and host of ESPN’s “Get Up,” said Thursday that his group chats with other Jets fans are buzzing with Burrow talk. “The quarterback they want is Joe Burrow,” Greenberg said as he looked at NFL insider Adam Schefter.
ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter thinks it's a possibility after the franchise amassed five first-round picks in the next two years through various trades this year. He did not lay out an exact trade scenario, but the topic got plenty of run on Thursday's episode of Get Up on ESPN.
Still, the proof is right there. Former first-rounder Amarius Mims has been steady at right tackle. Third-round rookie Dylan Fairchild has shown signs of being a long-term starter and fellow rookie and fifth-rounder Jalen Rivers, while not guaranteed a long-term role, has been notably better than other options.
