Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has set a new record ahead of its digital release, becoming the highest-grossing of the entire series. Set for digital release on January 21 in the US, the threequel, which sees Sonic, Tails and Knuckles form an alliance with Dr Robotnik to defeat Shadow the Hedgehog, has yet to confirm its release in the UK.

Directed by Jeff Fowler, who has directed all three films in the series, Sonic the Hedgehog 3 stars Jim Carrey, Ben Schwartz, Krysten Ritter, Natasha Rothwell, Shemar Moore, with James Marsden with Tika Sumpter with Idris Elba and Keanu Reeves, who joins the all-star cast as Shadow the Hedgehog.

Sonic the Hedgehog 3 is racing onto digital this week, with a physical home media release slated for Sonic and the gang later this year.
