While Timon and Pumbaa is even “spoof-ier” than the movie version it inspired, one can see how these shorts ingeniously capitalized on the original film’s most memorable characters.

But with Timon and Pumbaa being packaged as a duo, Sabella and Lane worked together throughout, giving them more opportunity to hone their working synergy.

During the interview, Lane and Sabella also revealed they originally came in to audition for The Lion King’s hyenas, and their chemistry led to the creation of Timon and Pumbaa.

The song was mostly performed by Simba, Nala and some off-screen singers, with Timon (Lane) and Pumbaa (Ernest Sabella) both opening and closing the song.
