The conclave that begins next week to elect a successor for Pope Francis is the first in over 46 years for which the Vatican has not ordered new cassocks for the new head of the church - at least from the two best-known papal tailors.

With 135 cardinals eligible to vote, the coming conclave is set to be the largest in the history of the Catholic Church and one of the most unpredictable in decades.
