The Maple Leafs have also reportedly traded Mitch Marner's negotiation rights to the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for Nic Roy, per Friedman. Marner reportedly signed an eight-year deal with the club at an AAV of $12 million.

The Florida Panthers agreed to terms with trade deadline acquisition Brad Marchand on a six-year deal worth $5.25 million AAV. ESPN's Greg Wyshynsk and Kristen Shilton noted that this came as bad news to the Maple Leafs, who were seen as a top contender to sign Marchand had he hit free agency.

Among wings to replace Marner, the two best candidates are Brock Boeser from the Canucks and Nikolaj Ehlers from the Jets. There's no confirmation that Toronto is linked to either, but they're the best duo remaining. The Leafs could also go after veteran Patrick Kane.
